About Me.

I am a fiber artist and researcher who explores fiber as material, history, and information. I spin and weave with materials ranging from rare-breed wool and recycled yarn to paper, cornsilk, and conductive thread.

My work is grounded in process and rooted in the historical study of textiles. At the heart of my research and practice is the question of how craft knowledge is encoded, preserved, and transmitted. Working with tools and techniques that span centuries, I invite others into the world of fiber through interactive art and shared making.

By day, I am a tenured associate professor and Fine Arts Librarian at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Criss Library. I am the co-author of a book on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and critical reflection in libraries, and work daily with students to help them understand and enact the research process. My research focuses on the information experiences of students and artists.

At Clover24, I host spin-ins and welcome visitors to watch, ask questions, and learn about fiber and textiles. Are you an artist looking for a research consultation? Let's talk! I have a sliding scale fee for practicing artists who want to learn how to expand their practice with research.
